Nearly 19,000 kamping families enjoyed a free night of KOA kamping on May 8-9 during Come Kamp & Care With Us Weekend, and helped raise – at last count – more than $220,000 to support KOA Care Camps for children with cancer.
The sixth-annual event has become the official start of the kamping season for families throughout North America, with more than 370 KOA kampgrounds in the U.S. and Canada participating. “Come Kamp & Care With Us Weekend is a wonderful event that allows kampers to not only enjoy a free night at a campground close to home, but also help us raise funds to support KOA Care Camps for children with cancer,” said Kampgrounds of America, Inc. CEO Jim Rogers. “Sending these very special kids to these 41 terrific summer camp programs is a wonderful thing. We couldn’t do it without our kampers.” Next year’s Come Kamp & Care With Us Weekend will be held Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, 2010. Kampers who stay as a paying guest at a participating KOA on Friday, May 14 will receive a free night of kamping on Saturday, May 15.
